Liza Cirolia is researcher and co-ordinator of the Sustainable Human Settlements CityLab. The CityLab work focuses on housing policy and practice in the Western Cape and the City of Cape Town.
Previously, she has worked on a variety of research projects pertaining to urban citizenship, rights, and housing delivery. Most recently she conducted research into South Africa's Emergency Housing Programme, informal land markets in Nairobi, and private sector led basic service delivery in Mumbai. Her projects focus on the contested roles and responsibilities of human settlement stakeholders in the production of a sustainable 'lived environment' for the urban poor.
