Hosted by the The City of Cape Town, this conference and exhibition on planning for a low carbon city looks at How can urban planning contribute to developing a low carbon city? This is one of the biggest challenges facing planning and developing urban areas today. While many of the challenges may not be new to urban planning and planners, certainly the imperative to make a low carbon future is. The spectrum of change needed ranges from planning practice and legislation, to infrastructure development, development financing, transport, economic and social systems, managing urbanisation and addressing poverty.
This conference aims to provide a dynamic platform to discuss and debate these issues so that we can integrate them into our future urban planning and development practice.
