ACC @ World Urban Forum: UniverCity: Towards city-university co-production and co-using of urban knowledge

When: Mar 25, 2010 (4.30pm)
Where: WUF Venue Area, Avenida Rodrigues Alves – Armazem 5, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Room W3-18.

Decisions, big and small, by a multitude of stakeholders and actors in cities and urban regions determine our ability for actually achieving sustainable urban futures. But what is the knowledge base underpinning all these decisions? New modes of collaboration can lead to more relevant urban knowledge being co-produced and co-used between cities, universities and other actors in urban development. There is a great potential in establishing stronger links and bridging the gaps that sometimes make
universities distant from urban policy and practice, and cities obsolete from the frontiers in urban knowledge. Invited speakers will present progressive initiatives from cities in Kenya, South Africa and Sweden. The organizers welcome a broad spectrum of urban development actors - producers and users - to discuss new ways to promote UniverCity cooperation.
