ACC seeks to draw together various UCT academics with an interest in the relationship between climate change and cities, especially in Africa. Thus far this research grouping has done applied research on the regulatory reforms required to implement a regional climate change strategy in the Western Cape. ACC chairs a scientific reference group for the Cape Town metropolis to promote and assure all applied research on climate change commissioned by the municipality. In the longer term, ACC is likely to carry out various studies on African cities and climate change with a focus on both adaptation and mitigation.
